Onomichi's soul food is Onomichi Ramen.
Onomichi Ramen was started in Onomichi in 1947
by a Taiwanese native Mr Shu as a food stall.
After setting up a shop, "Shukaen” was named.
The shop was a popular ramen shop that always lined up
,but it was closed in 2019 for health reasons.
The soup is soy sauce taste of small fish soup,
pork back fat with char siu.
The shop was delicious and my favorite ramen shop.
Now, my recommended Onomichi ramen shop is “Ichibankan”.
The shop is based on pork, chicken and vegetables,
using small Seto fish, rich soy sauce flavor.
It seems to have been finished with pork back oil,
a feature of Onomichi Ramen.
The shop was introduced in the Michelin Guide Hiroshima 2013
Special Edition.
